Jimmy Samartzis is the Chief Executive Officer of LanzaJet, Inc., a global leader in sustainable fuels technology and the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel. Throughout his career, he has driven pioneering changes across industries and in government, leading efforts that enable economic growth, energy security, and national security. His unwavering commitment to innovations that improve the future has greatly accelerated progress in the global clean energy transition. His dedication to building ecosystems at the intersection of public and private sectors enables impact in building a new industry while also transforming an existing 80-year old industry.

As the founding CEO of LanzaJet, Jimmy leads the company and technology’s development, commercialization, and operational execution- including construction of the world’s first commercial scale ethanol-based Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) biorefinery. The company is currently collaborating with customers and partners on projects around the world, aiming to reach a production goal of 1B gallons of sustainable fuels using LanzaJet’s ATJ technology. Samartzis also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC) as well as on the Board of Trustees of Loyola Academy and several other nonprofit organizations.
